Twelve years old, this public nursing home in Taizhou, Jiangsu province, has 142 nursing beds. It contains elderly living rooms, care corridors, rehabilitation rooms, dining room, bathing room and nursing station. It has been in use for many years, and the original ground is old-fashioned polished tiles.

Pain points before remodeling (real-life feedback from the hospital)

1. After the ground was dragged, the ground was slippery, and there were many incidents of elderly people falling and crushing in the courtyard, which put a lot of pressure on the caregivers.

2. The tile floor is hard, and if you fall, it is very likely to cause a fracture, and the risk is extremely high for the elderly.

3. The cracks in the tiles are easy to accumulate food residue and dust, the nursing home is chlorinated several times a day, and the cracks are easy to grow bacteria.

4. Wheelchairs and walkers are used for a lot of noise, and the corridor noise is easily transmitted to the room, which affects the elderly's lunch break and night rest.

Hospital supervisors and care managers compared prices from multiple sources, compared rubber flooring, wood flooring, common PVC flooring, comprehensive budget, environmental protection, anti-slip, and sterilization resistance, and finally determined the Great Dragon multi-layer composite PVC roll flooring as the main material for this renovation.

Product segment selection

In accordance with the population flow and use characteristics of different areas of the nursing home, Great Dragon technicians surveyed the site and subdivided the products recommended:

1. Corridors, rehabilitation halls, and dining rooms (high-frequency traffic, wheelchair commuting): Great Dragon thick multi-layered composite coil with foam elastomer, R9 wet anti-slip, thick wear resistance, and long-term wheelchair running does not easily break;

2. Single room and double room for the elderly: use low saturation and light wooden styles, and the light is soft and does not reflect, reducing visual glare for the older person and creating a warm feeling in the home.

3. Bathtubs and toilets: The same series of anti-slip rolls are constructed using a seamless heat welding process, which is waterproof and impervious, and avoids standing water infiltrating the ground.

Construction difficulties and solutions

The difficulty is that the nursing home is an on-site institution, and cannot empty the entire population to relocate the elderly, and it must be constructed in stages. Work dust and odors should be kept to a minimum, and work should be put into use as soon as possible after completion.

Construction plan: There is no need to destroy the original floor tiles on a large scale, and the ground floor is sanded and repaired directly on the old tiles. Close the construction area in stages and misuse the elderly's rest period. Use eco-friendly water-based glue to reduce irritating odor. All joints are heat wrought to form an integrated seamless surface.

Project Implementation Effectiveness (Real Use Feedback 18 Months of Operation)

✅Resilient buffers to reduce fall injuries

The floor has its own flexible padded layer, which can buffer the impact force when the elderly slips down, reducing the risk of fracture compared to hard tiles. After cleaning the ground, the wet and slippery properties of the ground are stable, and the caregiver does not have to put tight safety pressure at all times. Wheelchairs and walkers were introduced smoothly, and the sensation of bumps was significantly reduced.

The effective absorption of footsteps, wheelchair wheel noise, and corridor noise no longer easily transmitted into the living room, ensuring the sleep quality of the elderly is a point of great satisfaction for the hospital.

✅Resistant to disinfectant corrosion, cleaning and mind-saving

The nursing home uses 84 disinfectant liquid on a daily basis, and iodine volt is frequently disinfected, and the face of this dragon is resistant to chemical corrosion, and it will not fade and be corroded repeatedly. Reliable ground, food soup and stains are directly wiped, with fewer cracks, which are not easy to hide dirt and breed bacteria, and there is no need to wax for maintenance at a later stage, and long-term maintenance cost is lower.

✅Environmentally friendly and odorless, suitable for use in elderly care facilities

The product does not contain formaldehyde, TVOC indicators meet the public building standards, B1 class flame retardant, successfully passed the fire inspection. The phased construction is completed and the ventilation can be put into use in a short time, and the elderly with weakened immunity do not have a noxious odor.

✅Colors are age-friendly and visually more comfortable

The light wooden tones are soft and have no strong reflective light, reducing visual fatigue in the elderly, and the overall space is no longer as cold as the hospital.

Support and aftersales service

After the project was completed, Great Dragon engineers went door to door to conduct special training for the nursing home cleaning team, explaining the cleaning agents suitable for PVC floors, the prohibited strong corrosive cleaning ants, and daily maintenance methods. Establish a dedicated after-sales file for the project and regularly return visits. Since its operation for a year and a half, the floor has not cracked, contracted, and detached, and the wear-resistant surface layer is intact. The hospital said that this ground remodeling reached the expected aging objective.
